BHK Moderna Miro Molding

This "do it yourself" molding accent system can create dramatic changes to a room! BHK Moderna Miro is the perfect solution for remodeling projects in homes, schools, laboratories, offices or residential and commercial buildings. Ideal way to hide messy wires from today's high technology wiring used for computers, stereos and home theater systems. BHK Miro Molding can be used to create unique wall or ceiling art in the home as well as restaurants or lobbies. To add outlets to a room, simply install the outlets directly to your Miro Molding. Even adding accent lighting to a room is easy with this unique system. And, special visual effects can be achieved with our decorative accent squares!

Installation Instructions

Miro can be installed directly to drywall. The ceiling must be able to support the molding accents and the ceiling must be dry and even. For molding accents that directly adjoin walls, leave a 3/8" expansion gap at each wall. If the walls are "bowed," you will need to increase the expansion gap accordingly. Miro Accent Molding can be used in all dry living areas as well as kitchens and baths! For use in kitchens and baths, it is necessary to ensure good and regular air circulation and ventilation. Never use in areas with direct contact with water!

YOU WILL NEED:

Step by Step Instructions

1. Packages of Miro Decorative Molding and Accent Squares must acclimatize for a minimum of 48 hours in the room where they will be installed.

2. Inspect the product before use.

3. Cut packages open from the back side.

4. Every package includes installation instructions, one Miro molding panel & baseplate, brackets, screws, eyehooks and two protective anti-fall safety guards.

5. Cover any furniture in the room before making any cuts for installation.

6. Depending on your design, determine where installation will begin in your room.

7. Begin installation by measuring 3/8" out from the wall.

8. Mark it and snap a chalk line on to the ceiling.

Install the baseplate

There are two options for installing the baseplate.

a. Option One: Mount the baseplate to the wall or ceiling and then install the clips to the plate.

b. Option Two: We recommend this Option. Mount the brackets to the baseplate first.
(It is much easier to work with the baseplate with the brackets already in place especially when installing to a ceiling.)

9. Affix the first bracket to the edge of the baseplate.

10. Measure and screw brackets to each side of the baseplate every 12 inches.

11. For Miro Decorative Squares only one bracket per side is required.

NOTE: Make a pilot hole for the screw using a punch, nail or drill.

Mount the baseplate

12. Predrill the baseplate prior to mounting it to the ceiling.

13. Attach the baseplate to the ceiling studs with screws.

14. Affix two screws per stud every 16" on center.

15. Install the baseplate using screws or toggle bolts long enough to penetrate the joists by at least 1".

Using Accent Squares

To install the Accent Square, remember to leave a space between the baseplates for the decorative Accent Squares. Place a shim between the Accent Square and the baseplate. Remove the shim once the baseplate is installed. Miro Interior Accents with self adhesive strips can be used with the Accent Squares to enhance the visual effects of your design.

16. Continue to install the baseplates according to your design.

NOTE: Make sure that right angles and parallel runs of the molding accents are always maintained towards the decorative squares. It is easy to control a right angle using the following system as per diagram.

Install the protective anti-fall safety guard

Every package of Miro Accent Molding contains a guard intended to protect against the molding unforeseeably coming off the baseplate. The anti-fall safety guard must be installed on every piece of Miro used in the room.

17. Install the eyehook to the inside of the side panel of the Miro molding panel.

18. Measure eyehook distance to correspond to the mounted baseplate and install eyehook to baseplate.

19. Install eyehooks for the anti-fall guard on the same side of both pieces.

20. Loop the plastic guard through the eyehooks and lock.

Attach Miro Molding

21. Firmly press the Miro Molding or Decorative Square onto the mounting brackets until the sides of the accent molding make contact with the wall or ceiling. If the molding has to be installed in between two decorative squares, be sure to cut the molding accurately and squarely before pressing it firmly onto the mounting bracket.

IMPORTANT NOTES

This product must be stored in a dry area.

Rooms must be dry and heated prior to installation.

Carefully inspect the product prior to installation for any visible defects.

Do not expose product to a permanent temperature exceeding 194°F.
(for example around heaters, lights and hot water pipes)

Due to the ecological composition of the raw materials of these products, exposure to direct sunlight may result in discoloration and fading. Product is not suitable for use in sunrooms or areas with sun lights.

Not recommended for use in connection with ceiling heating systems or directly above intensive sources of heat such as fireplaces, etc.

Additional weights and loads exceeding 2.2 pounds must be installed directly to the ceiling rather than to the accent molding. Use screws or toggle bolts long enough to penetrate the ceiling joists directly.

Do not install with contact adhesive tapes or sealing materials such as silicone. This system is designed to be installed with the mounting brackets, screws and protective anti-fall guard. Use of contact adhesive tapes or sealing materials is at your own risk.

Always install the protective anti-fall safety guard.

If ceiling lights are intended to be installed with the accent molding, install the lighting prior to pressing the molding in to place.

Check local codes for lighting transformers. Make sure that transformer and lights have ample space to breathe. Have your lights installed by your local electrical contractor to insure that they meet local electrical codes and are properly installed.

Should you need to remove the accent molding more than once, we strongly recommend that you reposition the mounting brackets to achieve the same secure installation of the components as before.

To maintain BHK Moderna Miro Accent Molding, simply clean with a damp mop or cloth.
